One Flower on Stem

Description

Plaster bas-relief of one flower on a stem, quite possibly a depiction of a tulip. Elizabeth placed her initials “E F E” in the lower right-hand corner of this art piece, thus evidencing the piece was created after her July 1914 marriage.

The 29 November 1910 letter accompanying the sending to Ye Arts & Crafts Shop in Honolulu, Hawaii of an assortment of 35 pieces of her seventeen “best studies” does mention two pieces with “tulips” in them, so they may have been forerunners to this piece.
