“Tootles” (bronze)

Description

Bronze statuette cast from a mould of the carved plaster sculpture, "Tootles," named by Elizabeth, as known both in family lore and from the 29 November 1910 letter accompanying the sending of an assortment of 35 pieces of her seventeen “best studies” to Ye Arts & Crafts Shop in Honolulu, Hawaii. This bronze version almost surely post-dates July 1914, for Elizabeth's initials "EFE" appear on the top of the pedestal near the right foot of Tootles.

Original plaster sculpture pre-dates November 1910 and cast bronze version dates between 1914 and 1925. Note the initials “EFE” on the top of the pedestal, near the right foot.
